Bloomfield: Small is Beautiful

Discover a little village with timeless appeal that has a big place in people’s hearts. Ideally situated in the geographic centre of Prince Edward County, Bloomfield is a feast for the senses. Admire superb examples of Loyalist architecture, carefully tended grounds and uniquely curated shops, galleries, restaurants, and more.

Bloomfield Main Street

Bloomfield is the perfect home base from which to explore all that The County has to offer, and a place where locals and visitors alike come to meet. It is located just 15 minutes from the beaches of Sandbanks Provincial Park, and halfway between Wellington and Picton.

A history of hospitality

Our village has been welcoming guests for over 200 years. From the earliest days of settlement, Bloomfield’s mills attracted farmers from a great distance, who stayed overnight in hotels while their grain was being ground. Today, choose from charming B&Bs, inns, resorts and vacation rentals with modern amenities in both historic and contemporary buildings.

An authentic farm-to-table community

Taste the flavours of farm-to-table cuisine, artisanal ice cream, local baked goods, wine, craft beer, cider and spirits. Settled by farmers in the late 1700s, Bloomfield remains true to its roots. There are several working farms in the area, so chances are, something on the menu at our delightful restaurants and cafes came from just down the street. It doesn’t get more local than that!

A thriving arts community

Many local artists call Bloomfield home. There are painters and sculptors, photographers, mixed-medium artists, glass artists, potters, designers and crafters. Spend a day gallery hopping, visiting artists at work in their studios. There are also several galleries that offer thoughtfully curated collections showcasing the works of artists from across Canada.

Something for everyone

Bloomfield is a tight-knit community with a population of about 600 people. There is a diverse array of services catering to residents and visitors alike. Whether you’re looking for a spa or hair salon, a place of worship, a business service or a car dealership, start your search right here to experience companies and organizations who put their hearts into everything they do.

A shopping oasis

From the centre of the village to Bloomfield’s outskirts, you’ll find a wide variety of shops stocked with unique wares. Seeking the perfect souvenir, art treasure, home décor, a vintage find, a locally made product, or a fabulous new outfit? Guaranteed you’ll find the perfect item while enjoying the thoughtfulness of small-town customer service.

THINGS TO DO

Breathe in the fresh air on a leisurely stroll or a scenic cycle through the town and nearby trails. Take in a drive-in movie, attend a live event, enjoy a local activity or shop a farmer’s or artisan market. Book a tour guide, or simply drop in for tastings at nearby wineries, breweries, cideries and distilleries. There are also workshops to enjoy, like art and cooking classes.

Big love for a tiny town

This little village has been quietly winning the hearts of tourism writers, celebrity chefs and lifestyle bloggers. Time Inc.’s Travel + Leisure magazine made special mention of Bloomfield when they profiled The County as one of the world’s 50 best places to visit in 2015. We suspect you’ll love it here too! See you soon?
